Harbor

Releases

What shipped, and when.

Every Harbor release on every platform, newest first. Harbor's apps update on their own schedules — the Mac App Store waits on review, the Web Clipper waits on four of them — so the version numbers here rarely line up, and that's on purpose.

  1. Harbor for Windows

    0.2.11

Fixed an empty band below the custom title bar in the main window and note windows.
  2. Harbor for Windows

    0.2.10

    Better Office attachments

    • Recognizable files — Word, Excel, and PowerPoint attachments now show their file type, name, and size.
    • More file actions — Download, preview when supported, or open attachments in the matching desktop app.
  3. Harbor for Windows

    0.2.9

    A safer, faster Harbor

    • Signed Windows releases — Downloads and updates now verify Cloudmanic Labs, LLC as the publisher.
    • Faster sync — Harbor stays usable while notes refresh.
    • Better imports and exports — Import Obsidian vaults and export notes as Markdown.
  4. Full-page clips no longer hide part of what they captured. Harbor now tells you before saving when a clip won’t be encrypted, and won’t save a clip into a notebook that encrypts new notes. A screenshot Harbor can’t accept now says so instead of saving an empty note. Clips respect your plan’s limits.

A screenshot Harbor can’t accept now says so instead of saving an empty note. Clips respect your plan’s limits.
  6. Setting up a workspace is quicker. The notebook list in a new or edited workspace now has a search box, so picking a few out of a long list is a matter of typing instead of scrolling.

Moving a note follows the workspace you are in. The notebook picker — for one note or a whole selection — shows the notebooks in your current workspace, and everything else sits one tap away behind an “other notebooks” row.

  7. Video plays right in your notes

    • Play it where it sits — press play on a video in a note instead of downloading it to watch it
    • Shared notes too — anyone you send a note to can watch it in their browser
    • iPhone clips work — .mov videos now play, even when the browser claims they will not
  8. • Table of contents — pick any notes and create a note that links to them all. • Publishing a note that links to private notes now warns you first, and offers to publish those too. • The “/” insert menu opens beside your cursor instead of jumping to the top of the window. • Mac: drag notes onto a notebook in the sidebar to move them, including notebooks pinned to Shortcuts. • Mac: right-click Trash in the sidebar to empty it.
  9. Open your files full screen

    • Full-screen viewer — click View on any file to see photos, PDFs, spreadsheets, text, audio and video at full size
    • Video, at last — Harbor for the web can play video now, both full screen and in the details pane
    • Audio and video start instantly — they stream as they play instead of downloading the whole file first
  10. Harbor CLI

    0.1.41

Homebrew installs from a real tap now, with the download verified against a published checksum.
  11. Workspaces let you filter Harbor down to one area of your life.

Signing in, creating an account and resetting your password have been redesigned.

The note list on iPhone and iPad now shows preview images, with new options for how it looks and sorts.

You can now indent and outdent nested lists on iPhone and iPad.

Plus fixes for sign-out, Keychain access, and note thumbnails.

You can now indent and outdent nested lists on iPhone and iPad.

    • Drag notes onto a notebook in the sidebar to move them — including notebooks pinned to Shortcuts. Hover a collapsed stack and it opens so you can drop inside it.
    • Table of contents — pick any notes and create a note that links to them all.
    • Publishing a note that links to private notes now warns you first, and offers to publish those too.
    • Right-click Trash in the sidebar to empty it.
    • The / insert menu now opens beside your cursor instead of jumping to the top of the window.
  13. PDFs open full screen. Tap a PDF in a note and it fills the screen — pinch to zoom, scroll through the pages, and download it with a tap. The same viewer Harbor uses on iPhone and Windows.

Also fixed: typing / near the bottom of a long note now opens the insert menu next to your cursor, instead of jumping to the top of the screen.

  14. Drag and drop your notes

    • Drag notes into notebooks — grab a note and drop it on any notebook in the sidebar to move it there
    • Move several at once — select multiple notes and drag the whole selection together
    • Works everywhere — every list view, notebooks inside stacks, and pinned shortcuts
  15. Workspaces. Group your notebooks into views — Work, Personal, whatever suits you — and switch between them from the More tab. A workspace only changes what you see; nothing is moved or deleted.

Your note list, your way. Preview images, three layouts — snippets, cards and compact — and a sort order that finally sticks between launches.

Also: web clips are safe from accidental edits, and the header now tells you when a note is unsaved, offline, or failed to save.

  16. Workspaces, live sync, and export that follows you

    • Workspaces — Group notebooks into views and switch between them from the sidebar.
    • Live sync — Changes from your other devices now appear as they happen.
    • Export progress in the sidebar — Start an export, walk away, and download it from anywhere in the app.
    • Watched folders can name your notes — A per-folder switch titles imported notes from what is inside them.
    • Search now takes you to the words you searched for. Opening a result whose match sat inside a collapsed outline section used to land you on a note with nothing highlighted — the section now opens on the way in.
    • The first sync after you sign in is considerably faster, and it no longer slows to a crawl while Harbor sits in a background tab.
    • A focused button no longer shows two slightly different blues at once.
    • If a payment credential is ever refused, Harbor now notices straight away instead of letting purchases fail quietly.
  17. Harbor for Mac is substantially faster.

    • Trashing, tagging, moving notes and ticking off tasks no longer wait on a sync in progress — the app stops freezing mid-click.
    • Harbor now sits genuinely idle when nothing has changed, instead of re-reading your whole library every couple of minutes.
    • Moving between notes and typing in the editor are both noticeably lighter, especially in big notebooks and long notes.
    • Images you have already viewed open straight from your Mac, with no network round-trip.
    • Emptying the trash, restoring a lot of notes, and exporting no longer lock up the window while they run.
