Every Harbor for Android release, newest first — what changed and the day it went out.
New: mark up your pictures. Tap a picture in a note, then tap Annotate. Draw, add arrows and text, highlight, crop, or black out private details. Save over the picture or save a copy.
Rename a file from inside a note. Add notes, notebooks and saved searches to Shortcuts, not just tags.
Code blocks have a Copy button. A new note starts with the cursor in the title. Typing in the tag picker now finds your existing tags.
New: a table of contents block. Type “/” or tap “+” → Table of contents, then pick some tags. It lists every note with those tags and updates itself as you tag, edit or trash notes. Sort it by date updated, date created or title.
Encrypting a note now also encrypts every file attached to it, including files from an Evernote import. Notes you already encrypted get fixed the next time you unlock.
New: Note info now lists the note’s headings. Tap one to jump straight to it.
Export a note as ENEX, PDF or HTML from the note’s ⋯ menu, as well as Markdown.
Fixes: the cursor no longer jumps to the start of a note while you type. Ticking a checklist item no longer crosses out the items nested under it. The table of contents picker now shows the notebooks in your current workspace.
New: change the size of text. Select some text and tap the size button, then pick Tiny, Small, Default, Large or Huge. Select a whole table to resize all of its text at once.
The format menu that opens when you select text now sits below the text, so Android’s Copy and Paste menu no longer covers it.
Fixes for the “/”, note link, tag and emoji menus when you use a hardware keyboard.
New setting: Show list guide lines. Turn it on in Settings › Editor, and a faint line appears beside nested list items, so you can see which item they belong to.
Your editor settings for font, text size, spell check and word count now work on Android too.
Checklists now line up and space just like bullet lists. Plus fixes for tables and text color.
Search got smarter, and it works offline.
Use tag:work or notebook:recipes to narrow a search. Put a minus sign in front of a word, like -draft, to leave it out. Search by date with created: and updated:, and use “quotes” for an exact phrase.
Search now finds other forms of a word, so “plan” finds “plans”. It also finds notes by their tag names.
Type #tag right in a note and it becomes a tag.
New emoji picker. Type : and a word, like :smile, to pick an emoji as you write.
Code blocks now show in color. Pasting an image into a note now puts it in the note. You can also jump to a notebook, stack or tag straight from search.
Web clips now look like the real web page — pictures, layout and links — instead of flat text.
Open a note from a search and the Find bar is already open with your search words, so you can step through every match. The keyboard stays down until you tap the Find bar.
Search now finds words inside your PDFs and scanned images, even with no signal. Open a result and the words are marked right on the page.
New: Find in note. Open a note, tap the ⋯ menu (or press Ctrl+F) and search that note — step through every match, including ones tucked inside a collapsed section.
Opening a note from a search now highlights what you searched for, instead of only scrolling to it.
Task reminders that reach your phone. Set a reminder on any task: tap 9:00 AM, 5:00 PM or pick your own time, and it goes off on the day the task is due. Turn on Reminders on this phone in Settings, Notifications, and Harbor sends a notification when a task or note reminder is due, even when Harbor is closed.
Also: the task sheet now says in one sentence what your task will do, like “repeats every Tuesday, and reminds you at 9:00 AM.”
Add tasks from your home screen. Tap + on the Tasks widget and a New task sheet opens right over your home screen, without opening Harbor. Set a due date, repeat, priority or flag, tap Add task, and you are back where you were.
Also: a task you check off on the widget stays crossed out for a moment before it leaves, and reopening Harbor after Android closed it in the background no longer brings back a sheet you had closed or saves a share twice.
Fixes a crash on open in 1.0.17. If Harbor closed itself right after you signed in, this update fixes it. Sorry about that.
New in 1.0.17 and 1.0.18: a Tasks widget for your home screen. See your open tasks at a glance, tap the circle to check one off without opening Harbor, tap a task to open it, or tap + to add one. Find it under Harbor in your launcher’s widget picker.
Also: HEIC photos show in notes, the note body no longer pans sideways, and the note-link picker follows your workspace.
Your encryption passphrase stays out of your keyboard’s memory. Passphrase and password fields now tell the keyboard they hold a secret, so Gboard and other keyboards no longer learn what you type there or offer it back as a suggestion. This covers every place Harbor asks for a password: unlocking encrypted notes, setting up or changing your passphrase, and confirming account changes.
If your keyboard already learned a passphrase, remove it from the keyboard’s personal dictionary.
Link a note without breaking your sentence. Type [[ or @ anywhere in a line and your notes appear right at the cursor. Keep typing to narrow them down, pick one, and the link drops in — mid-sentence, mid-list, even inside a table.
Need a note you have not written yet? The list offers to create it. Harbor makes the note in the notebook you are already writing in, then links it, without ever leaving the note you are in.
Note links show the linked note’s name. A link to another note used to read just “Note” — now it carries that note’s real title, and follows along when you rename it.
Also fixed: sharing an image into Harbor no longer makes Home show the wrong picture. A brand-new note’s row could briefly draw the photo belonging to whatever note sat in that spot before.
Videos play right in your notes. Tap a clip and it plays where it sits — no downloading it first. An encrypted clip tells you its size before it starts, so you spend the data only when you press play.
Also fixed: a whole-account export now names its format in the progress row — as HTML, as Evernote (ENEX), or as Markdown — so two exports running at once are no longer a guessing game.
Setting up a workspace is quicker. The notebook list in a new or edited workspace now has a search box, so picking a few out of a long list is a matter of typing instead of scrolling.
Moving a note follows the workspace you are in. The notebook picker — for one note or a whole selection — shows the notebooks in your current workspace, and everything else sits one tap away behind an “other notebooks” row.
