Point Harbor at the folder your scanner saves into — on your Mac or PC, or in Google Drive or Dropbox — and everything that lands there becomes a note on its own, filed in the notebook you picked and tagged the way you asked. On the web, Mac, iPhone, iPad or Android, switch on “suggest a title from the file’s contents” and the words on each page go to an AI that names the note from them, so you get “2026 Property Tax Statement” instead of scan_0042.pdf. It’s off until you turn it on. Feed it the stack, come back to an archive.

Common questions

Can I email things into Harbor?
Yes. Every account gets a private @m.harbor.my address — forward mail to it and the subject becomes the title, the body becomes the note, and attachments come along OCR’d. An @Notebook or #tag in the subject files it as it lands. How email to notes works →
Can someone else email notes into my account?
No. Harbor accepts mail only from your own verified address and silently drops everything else. Your inbound address is still a secret worth guarding — anyone holding it could post notes if that check were relaxed, and resetting it is the only way to revoke it.
Why did a note from my watched folder rename itself?
Because you asked it to. With “suggest a title from the file’s contents” switched on for that folder, the note arrives under its filename straight away and renames itself a few moments later, once the page has been read — the import never waits on that. If you name the note yourself in the meantime, yours wins. This is the only place Harbor hands your note text to an AI without you pressing a button: the OCR’d text goes to OpenAI, only for files that folder imports, and never for an encrypted note. It’s off until you switch it on — from the web, Mac, iPhone, iPad or Android app; the Windows app doesn’t have the switch yet — on every plan including free, up to 100 notes a day. Does everything I capture get OCR'd?
Scans, photos, PDFs, and email attachments all go through OCR on our servers, so the words inside them turn up in search. The exception is encrypted notes — we can’t read those, by design. How OCR search works →
