- Photos taken in HEIC format now show correctly in your notes.
- A file that is too large, or a type Harbor can’t store, is turned away when you pick it — instead of an upload that retried forever.
- The note body no longer slides sideways, and a long link to another note can no longer stretch the page.
- The note-link picker now shows notes from the workspace you are in.
- Checking off a task shows its strike-through and fade again before it leaves the list.
Releases
What shipped, and when.
Every Harbor release on every platform, newest first. Harbor's apps update on their own schedules — the Mac App Store waits on review, the Web Clipper waits on four of them — so the version numbers here rarely line up, and that's on purpose.
- New home-screen Tasks widget: see your open tasks, check them off in place, and tap one to open it.
- Photos taken in HEIC format now show correctly in your notes.
- A file that is too large, or a type Harbor can’t store, is turned away when you pick it — instead of an upload that retried forever.

Task reminders that reach your phone. Set a reminder on any task: tap 9:00 AM, 5:00 PM or pick your own time, and it goes off on the day the task is due. Turn on Reminders on this phone in Settings, Notifications, and Harbor sends a notification when a task or note reminder is due, even when Harbor is closed.
Also: the task sheet now says in one sentence what your task will do, like “repeats every Tuesday, and reminds you at 9:00 AM.”
Add tasks from your home screen. Tap + on the Tasks widget and a New task sheet opens right over your home screen, without opening Harbor. Set a due date, repeat, priority or flag, tap Add task, and you are back where you were.
Also: a task you check off on the widget stays crossed out for a moment before it leaves, and reopening Harbor after Android closed it in the background no longer brings back a sheet you had closed or saves a share twice.
- Maintenance release. Behind-the-scenes groundwork for reminder notifications on phones. Nothing in the web app changes.
Fixes a crash on open in 1.0.17. If Harbor closed itself right after you signed in, this update fixes it. Sorry about that.
New in 1.0.17 and 1.0.18: a Tasks widget for your home screen. See your open tasks at a glance, tap the circle to check one off without opening Harbor, tap a task to open it, or tap + to add one. Find it under Harbor in your launcher’s widget picker.
Also: HEIC photos show in notes, the note body no longer pans sideways, and the note-link picker follows your workspace.
- Search is fast again on large accounts. Searching in the web app on an account with tens of thousands of notes could take over a minute. It now answers in well under a second. Results, order and snippets are unchanged.
- Maintenance release. A behind-the-scenes fix to how we measure traffic on the sign-in pages. Nothing in the app changes.
Font size, and pickers that follow your workspace
- Font size in the editor — pick Tiny to Huge from the toolbar or the selection pop-up
- Preferences apply on the web at last — font size, font family and spellcheck now take effect
- Note links follow your workspace — linking suggests notes from the workspace you are in
- Download photos your browser can't show — an encrypted iPhone photo now offers a real download
Back with one click
- Reopen from the taskbar — clicking Harbor while it sits in the tray brings the window back
- iPhone photos — HEIC pictures now show in your notes instead of a file chip
- Search inside PDFs offline — text read out of attachments is searchable without a connection
- The clipper panel now opens ready to use the first time, instead of sometimes sitting on “Loading…” until you closed it and tried again. The notebook list loads the same way.
- No more broken image while an iPhone photo gets ready. A HEIC photo you add to a note now shows a “Preparing photo…” box for the few seconds it takes to get ready, then the photo appears in its place. The full-screen view does the same.
- iPhone photos appear right away. A HEIC photo you just added to a note showed as a broken image until you reloaded the page. It now shows up by itself a few seconds after upload.
Your encryption passphrase stays out of your keyboard’s memory. Passphrase and password fields now tell the keyboard they hold a secret, so Gboard and other keyboards no longer learn what you type there or offer it back as a suggestion. This covers every place Harbor asks for a password: unlocking encrypted notes, setting up or changing your passphrase, and confirming account changes.
If your keyboard already learned a passphrase, remove it from the keyboard’s personal dictionary.
Link notes as you type
- Type [[ or @ — a note picker opens right where your cursor is, filters as you type, and drops the link in
- Create as you link — with no match, the first row makes a new note with that title and links to it
- iPhone photos show up everywhere — HEIC photos now get a JPEG copy, so they appear on the web, Windows and Android — not just the Mac
Link a note while you type
- [[ or @ — a note picker opens right at your cursor, anywhere in a line
- Search as you type — every row shows the title and the notebook it lives in
- Create as you go — the first row makes the note you are describing and links it
A catch-up release — everything that landed since 1.0.30.
Notes and the editor
- Link one note to another right where you are typing — type
[[or@anywhere in a line, search as you type, and drop the link in. It used to work only at the start of an empty line. - The "+" insert menu now offers the same list as typing
/. - Videos in a note play inline, without opening anything else.
- Office documents attached to a note now get a proper file card.
Tasks
- Reminders now actually fire, and the task form tells you in plain English what a task will do before you save it.
- A repeating task describes its schedule the same way it does on the web and on your other devices.
- Picking a date and time is now a calendar with hour and minute controls, instead of a clock face you had to drag.
Quick open (⌘K)
- Create a notebook or a tag, and switch workspaces, straight from the palette.
Files and recording
- Play audio and video inline in the Files details drawer.
- Voice recordings now save as MP3, matching the web and your other devices.
- A recording counts as a take only when audio actually reaches the file.
Account and sync
- Export shows its progress in the activity dock.
- Change email and Change password now behave correctly for accounts that sign in without a password.
- If the keychain refuses a sign-in token refresh, Harbor tells you instead of failing quietly.
- Link one note to another right where you are typing — type
- Full-page clips no longer hide part of what they captured. Harbor now tells you before saving when a clip won’t be encrypted, and won’t save a clip into a notebook that encrypts new notes. A screenshot Harbor can’t accept now says so instead of saving an empty note. Clips respect your plan’s limits.
Link a note without breaking your sentence. Type [[ or @ anywhere in a line and your notes appear right at the cursor. Keep typing to narrow them down, pick one, and the link drops in — mid-sentence, mid-list, even inside a table.
Need a note you have not written yet? The list offers to create it. Harbor makes the note in the notebook you are already writing in, then links it, without ever leaving the note you are in.
- You can now link one note to another right where you are typing. Type [[ or @ anywhere in a line to open the note picker, search as you type, and drop the link in. Before, this only worked at the start of an empty line.
