Can I share a note with someone?

Yes. You can publish any note as a public, read-only link.

The person you send it to just opens the link — no Harbor account, no sign-up wall. They see a clean page with the note’s content, and rich things render properly: PDFs are viewable, audio recordings play with their transcripts, web clips look like the pages they came from. Links unfurl nicely when pasted into messages, and you can see a view count on notes you’ve shared. Turn sharing off and the link stops working.

Now the honest half of the answer: Harbor does not do collaboration. There’s no shared editing, no inviting a teammate into a notebook, no comments. That’s a deliberate choice, not a missing feature. Harbor is a personal tool — your second brain, not a company’s workspace. Evernote spent years chasing teams and enterprise, and personal users paid the price in complexity. We’re not walking that road.

So the sharing model is simple: your notes are private by default, and when you want to show one to someone, you publish it read-only.

One related note: encryption and sharing don’t mix — an encrypted note is unreadable to our servers, so there’s nothing a public page could display.
