Can I annotate and redact web clips?

Yes. When you take a screenshot clip, it opens in an annotation editor before it’s saved.

It’s the same editor Harbor uses for any picture in a note, with the same tools in the same order:

• Select (V). Click a mark to move it, resize it or change its color. Delete removes it.
• Arrow (A). Drag from the tail to the point. This is the tool you start on.
• Line (L). A straight line.
• Box (B). A rectangle around something.
• Ellipse (E). A circle or an oval around something.
• Pen (P). Freehand.
• Highlighter (H). Drag a box and it fills with see-through color. It’s a box, not a marker stroke.
• Text (T). Click where the words should start, type, and press Enter. Shift+Enter starts a new line.
• Pixelate (X). Drag over an area to break it into blocks.
• Redact (R). Drag over an area to cover it with a solid block.
• Crop (C). Drag over the part you want to keep.

Undo is ⌘Z or Ctrl+Z. Redo is ⇧⌘Z, Ctrl+Shift+Z or Ctrl+Y.

Hiding something private

Redact and Pixelate are the two that matter for a banking page or a medical portal. Redact covers the area with a solid block. Pixelate breaks it into blocks too coarse to read. For text, use Redact. A solid block leaves nothing to guess at.

Either way, the clip is saved as one flat picture with your marks in it. There’s no clean copy underneath, and no layer someone could lift off later. Once you save the clip, what you hid is gone for good.

So the flow for a sensitive page is short: take the screenshot, redact the numbers that shouldn’t live anywhere, mark up what you want to remember, and press Save clip. The result is an ordinary Harbor note. It syncs, it’s filed, and the text you left showing is searchable.

How it differs from the apps

A clip is always a new note, so there’s one Save clip button, next to the notebook and tag pickers. There’s no Save as copy, because there’s no original to keep.
