Does Harbor work offline?

Yes — fully. Offline isn’t a degraded mode in Harbor; it’s how the apps are built.

Every app keeps a real database on your device. The Mac, iPhone, and iPad apps carry a complete local mirror of your notes, including a search index. The web app does something rarer: it keeps an actual SQLite database inside your browser and installs as an app, so it works offline the same way the native apps do.

On a plane, in a dead zone, on a boat — you can:

• Browse and read your notes and notebooks.
• Write and edit — new notes, changes, checklists, all of it.
• Search — the same search grammar runs locally against your device’s copy.

When you’re back online, everything syncs up quietly. And if you edited the same note on two devices while disconnected, Harbor doesn’t guess and discard one — it keeps both and creates a conflict copy, so no edit is ever silently lost.

One nuance worth knowing: Harbor’s design keeps the full archive in the cloud and syncs down what you need, so very large attachments you’ve never opened on a device may not be sitting on it. Notes you work with are there. More in Will Harbor fill up my disk?
